CARBON NEUTRALITY

THE CARIBBEAN’S FIRST – AND ONLY, WITHOUT OFFSET

Privada Stays will be Carbon Neutral in 2025. What that means? We’ll be the first hotel in the Caribbean without offset. Besides operating completely off-grid, we're partnering with, and empowering local suppliers to reduce water usage.

THE ROAD TO NET-ZERO EMISSIONS

Our mission to become a Carbon Neutral lodging operation in Aruba is deeply rooted in our creative entrepreneurship and desire to embrace change. As local small business owners we understand the need to do things differently. To adapt. Act smart. Be mindful of natural resources.

So, after lots of research, tests and making investments to support our sustainable lodging operations, we are ready. Up to the task. We’ll be net-zero in 2025 and the first hotel in the Caribbean to operate without offset. You can hold us to it.

HOW WE’RE MAKING THE CHANGE

Here’s what we’re doing in becoming a net-zero emission hotel in 5 steps:

BY GOING ENTIRELY OFF THE POWER GRID

Not connected to Aruba’s utilities plant. We use solar power, and our own generated energy is stored in batteries on-property.

By our own aerated wastewater treatment system on property, instead of being sent to a treatment plant.

BLACKWATER IS PROCESSED

RAINWATER AND GRAY WATER ARE COLLECTED

and repurposed to water our plants and support our landscaping.

STEPPING AWAY FROM DISPOSABLES*

Everything is reusable or recyclable.

CONSTRUCTION PARTNERS ADHERE TO PROTOCOLS

Regarding waste management: making sure materials are offered to the correct facilities, avoiding misuse of the national landfill.

*According to standard hygiene practices and biohazards, and local waste processing guidelines, some items must remain disposable – but we’re opting for biodegradable solutions in these cases
